Prescott’s beauty and culture as captured by 10 prominent area artists will be on display at Sharlot Hall Museum in “Centennial Canvas: Paintings by Prescott Artists,” a new exhibition that opens Saturday, February 11, 2012.

The exhibition features works by the artists created for this exhibition. The show is being presented in conjunction with Arizona’s centennial celebration. Many of the works will be available for sale, with part of the sale proceeds supporting the Sharlot Hall Museum.

The artists whose works will be exhibited are Shawn Cameron,Bonnie Casey, David Harlan, Doug Miley, Doug Oliver, Kathy Quick-Anderson, Cynthia Rigden, Sheila Savannah, Eric Slayton and Rafe Terry.

Museum Chief Curator Mick Woodcock commented that this exhibit was chosen because of its ties to the community, first through the artists and then the subject matter. “It’s a way to have a completely unique exhibit featuring Prescott and Yavapai County for the State Centennial,” Woodcock said.

The exhibition continues daily through September 3, 2012 and is included with museum admission.
Sharlot Hall Museum, a Prescott landmark for more than 80 years, is located at 415 W. Gurley St., two blocks west of the Courthouse Plaza in downtown Prescott. The Museum is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon-4 p.m. October-April; Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, noon-5 p.m. May-September.
